Flown by Captain Bradford V. Stevens with the 504th Fighter Squadorn, 339th Fighter Group out of Fowlmere, Cambridshire 44-13521 P-51D-5-NA would get credit for four aerial victories before being shot down in France on the 13th August 1944 over Saint Quentin, Feuquières, Beauvais and Saint Omer, with 2nd Lt. Myer R. Winkelman piloting the aircraft on this mission. In 1998 Mr Maurice Hammond acquired the wreckage, which had been stored in France and restored her to flying condition - with the exception of the fuselage fuel tank, which was removed to accommodate a second seat, she was then sold to a buyer in Italy where she stayed for a few years but she is now back in the UK and operated by Isabel Rutland.
